Cal State San Bernardino righty Raul Salazar was voted as the Baseball Pitcher of the Week, for the week of March 7-13, after a punch-out performance on Sunday.

Salazar struck out 14 batters in seven innings of work in leading the Yotes over Stanislaus State in the finale to clinch the series win for CSUSB. The junior from Rancho Cucamonga allowed just four hits and two runs in the outing. He faced 27 batters and fanned 14 Warriors with just one walk.

After allowing a home run in the second, Salazar retired 15 of the next 16 batters, including striking out the side in the fourth inning. He also recorded all three outs in the seventh via swinging K’s and had two strikeouts in three of the frames.

This was Salazar’s second consecutive great outing. Last week at San Francisco State, he threw a complete game, struck out seven and gave up just a run on five hits.

Cal State San Bernardino, now 9-3 in league play, moved into a three-way tie for first place in the CCAA standings. The Yotes are 13-9 overall and will travel to take on Cal State San Marcos this weekend.
