SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Colby Orr came off the bench to score a career-high 26 points and help lead the No. 3 seed Chico State to a 91-82 victory over No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino in the semifinals of the NCAA West Regional.

Orr and the rest of the Wildcats utilized the opportunities created when the Yotes double-teamed Malik Duffy to knock down 14 3-pointers. Orr was 6-of-9 from behind the arc and 10-of-13 from the field overall. Three other Wildcats knocked down at least two 3-pointers apiece.

Duffy finished with 15 points and six rebounds. Isaiah Brooks added 17 points and seven assists as the Wildcats posted assists on 17 of their 28 made baskets. Eddie Davis went 9-for-14 from the field and 3-of-5 from behind the arc to lead Cal State San Bernardino with 25 points. He added 10 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Brandon Knapper chipped in with 22 points, and Darius Lubom had 12.

Chico State led at the half 42-35 in their biggest advantage of the first period. They pushed their lead to as many as 17 (68-51) with 12:19 remaining. Cal State San Bernardino answered with a 15-4 run to chip the lead down to six (72-66). The Yotes were able to cut it to a one-possession game (76-73) on a 3-pointer by Darius Lubom with 4:29 remaining.

The lead for Chico State was still at four points with just under three minutes left when the Wildcats closed out the game. Brooks knocked down a pair of free throws, and Orr followed with a steal on the ensuing possession.

After a missed 3-pointer by Chico State, the Yotes' Eddie Davis drove the lane and converted on what looked like an and-1 layup, but it was waved off after a meeting by the officials and changed to a charge. Orr followed with a tough fall-away jumper in the lane to seal the victory.

In the end, it was the Wildcats' advantage from behind the arc and their edge in free throws which were key factors in the victory. Chico State outscored Cal State San Bernardino by 18 points from long range and by 11 points at the free throw line (21 to 10).

Chico State will advance to the championship game of the NCAA West Regional where they will meet the No. 8 seed, Alaska, on Monday, March 14 at 7 p.m.
