Gary Grosjean of SF State wins Baseball Pitcher of the Week award

San Francisco State hurler Gary Grosjean’s first career start was a success as he earned the Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor for the week of Feb. 7-13.

Grosjean threw 6 1/3 innings in the nightcap of a doubleheader on Saturday and led SF State to a 5-1 win over UC-Colorado Springs. The sophomore pitcher struck-out eight and gave up just three hits in his Gator debut.

The pitcher from Truckee, who spent his freshman season at Mendocino College, retired the first nine batters he faced and in 22 at bats, UCCS batted just .136 against him.

San Francisco State, which opened the season 3-1 against UCCS, will travel to take on Colorado State-Pueblo for a four-game set this weekend.
