Sonoma State received 118 points, including eight first-place votes, to propel the Seawolves to the top spot on the 2021 CCAA women's soccer preseason poll.
The Sonoma State Seawolves are the defending CCAA champions after posting an unbeaten conference record of 10-0-1 and an overall mark of 15-4-1 in 2019. This marked the sixth straight season the Seawolves finished in the top 3 in the conference standings and it was their second title during that span (2016).
Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State LA, and Stanislaus State rounded out the top 3 in the preseason poll. The Broncos finished with 110 points and three first-place votes in the preseason poll. CPP is coming off a season in which appeared in the NCAA West Regional after it went 13-5-3 over and 8-1-3 in league play.
Cal State LA and Stanislaus State finished tied for third in the polls with 94 points. The Golden Eagles earned the final remaining first-place vote. Cal State LA had a strong finish to the 2019 season as it grabbed the No. 7 seed in the NCAA West Regional and upset the No. 2 seed on the road. Stanislaus State also earned a bid to the 2019 NCAA West Regional after posting a 15-6-0 record and going 8-4-0 in conference play.
Chico State (76 points), Cal State Dominguez Hills (65), and Cal State East Bay (55) were voted fifth, sixth, and seventh in the poll, respectively. The Wildcats were picked to place five spots ahead of their 2019 finish. That would be the largest jump for any team in the predicted standings. The Toros closed out the 2019 regular season by going 5-1-1 to earn its first trip to the CCAA Tournament since 2009. The Pioneer just missed the final spot in the CCAA Tournament, as they were edged out by percentage points.
Cal State San Marcos, Cal State Monterey Bay, and Humboldt State all tied for eighth in the poll with 42 points. Cal State San Bernardino (31) and San Francisco State (23) rounded out the poll.
The 2021 season will begin on Thursday, September 2. Four CCAA women's soccer teams will be in action the first day and 11 of the 12 teams will compete during the opening weekend. Stanislaus State will play the opening match of the season for the league when they kick off against Biola at 1 p.m. on the road in La Mirada. Preseason favorites, Sonoma State, will open play on Sunday, Sept. 5 at home against Dominican from the PacWest Conference.

The NCAA Division II postseason selection show will be held on Sunday, November 14 and CCAA Tournament Champion will receive the league's automatic bid. The other teams will need to earn an at-large selection to the limited field. The first round of the NCAA West Regional will begin on Thursday, November 18.
