A record 99 men’s and women’s basketball competitors from across the conference were honored for their work in the classroom as members of the 2019-20 CCAA Winter All-Academic Team.

Instituted in 2014, the seasonal academic awards showcase individuals who are a sophomore in athletic standing or higher who maintain at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average while competing in a Conference-sponsored sport. At an even more stringent minimum of 3.8, 17 individuals make the grade. Impressively, San Francisco State’ Zane Paddon graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelor’s in business keeping a perfect gpa during his collegiate career.

Of the 99 honorees, 39 are making a repeat appearance on the Winter All-Academic Team. Thirteen in in the bunch have earned Winter All-Academic honors on three occasions, with Isaac Davidson (Sonoma State) and Alec Frank (Cal State San Marcos) representing men’s basketball.

On the women’s side, seven programs have at least one three-time honoree, with the Cal State East Bay trio of Morgan Greene, Kayley Hsing and Kincso Kelemen leading the way. Cal State LA is represented by sisters Rachael and Rebeccah DiRegolo, while Humboldt State has a pair of three-time honorees in Madeline Hatch and Tyra Turner. By program, Cal State East Bay again tops the lists for the second straight season, boasting 14 men and women earning distinction as the Pioneers make up 14.1 percent of the total awards recipients. Both the men and women’s squads see seven student-athletes apiece maintaining at least a 3.3 gpa.

In total, five schools reached double-digit honorees, with 11 selections for Cal State San Marcos, followed by the grouping of San Francisco State, Sonoma State and UC San Diego each with 10 honorees.
