Phoebe Bland from Cal Poly Humboldt has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
 
The sophomore middle blocker helped the Lumberjacks go 2-0 last week, recording six solo blocks and six block assists over eight sets. Bland also added eight digs and a service ace during the two-match stretch.
 
Bland opened the week with a dominant performance against Menlo on Thursday night, recording six solo blocks and one block assist, along with four digs and a service ace. Her six solo blocks were a key part of Cal Poly Humboldt's five-set victory.
 
Two days later, Bland continued her strong defensive play against Cal State Monterey Bay, recording five block assists and four digs as the Lumberjacks swept the Otters in three sets.
 
The Kennewick, Washington native currently ranks fourth in the CCAA in solo blocks with 11 and is eighth in blocks per set (0.92).  Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard.

The two victories improved Cal Poly Humboldt to 7-5 overall and 2-2 in CCAA play, sitting in a tie for fourth in the CCAA. The Lumberjacks will continue conference play this week as they face road tests against Cal State San Bernardino and Cal State San Marcos. Both games can be viewed at CCAA on FloSports.
