Kendyl Sumlin of Cal State LA has earned the award as the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 7-13.

Sumlin recorded 11 saves, including a career-high seven stops at Point Loma to lead the Golden Eagles to a pair of impressive draws against PacWest opponents. 

The sophomore goalkeeper from Lakewood, Calif., faced 16 shots against powerhouse Point Loma on Thursday and came away with seven saves in the 1-1 draw. On Saturday, Sumlin had four saves in the 1-1 tie against Vanguard.

Sumlin is tied for second in the CCAA with 17 saves and is fifth best with a 0.60 goals against average.Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders

Cal State LA, ranked No. 24 in the latest IWSOC/United Soccer Coaches poll, will square off against No. 2 Cal Poly Pomona Friday at 4 p.m. The match will be featured as the CCAA Game of the Week on FloCollege.
