CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Czar Fleischman went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI to help Cal State San Marcos win its first elimination game of the NCAA Championships, with a 7-1 victory over North Georgia.
Starting pitcher Jordan Hill allowed just three hits as she opened the game with five scoreless frames. Fleischman gave CSUSM the lead with a solo home run in the second inning. Marissa Morales added on another run later in the inning on a sac fly to score Kaila Sui.
Fleischman would also be at the center of the fifth inning rally, when the Cougars put up three runs to extend their lead to 5-0. A two-out single by Fleischman added two more runs, and she came around to score on a hat-hit ball through the left side of the infield by Sarah Bull.
Jillian Albayati's two-run homer in the sixth inning extended the lead to 7-0. It was her 19th home run and 79th RBI of the season.
Cal State San Marcos outhit North Georgia 9-4.
The Cougars will advance to the semifinals of Bracket 2, where they will face McKendree at 10:30 a.m. PST.
