#1 Cal State East Bay 76, #5 Cal State Dominguez Hills 67 [Box score]
Cal State East Bay went on a late 16-0 run to turn a seven-point deficit into a nine-point lead and defeat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 76-67, in the semifinals of the 2026 NCAA Men's Basketball West Regional.
The win moved the Pioneers to 32-0 as they remain the only undefeated team in the NCAA (Div. I, II, or III). CSUEB struggled offensively throughout most of the first half and the first 14 minutes of the second half. The Pioneers went just 4-of-30 from 3-point range, including 1-of-13 in the opening period.
It would be
Amare Campbell off the bench that sparked the Pioneers' comeback. He re-entered the game at the under-8:00 media timeout and proceeded to get a steal and a fast-break layup. The Toros would make just one basket the rest of the game. Campbell would score nine of his game-high 20 points in the final 5:28 as East Bay went on its game-winning run. The sophomore guard finished 8-of-13 from the field, 4-of-5 at the free throw line. He also had a team-leading eight rebounds and four assists in just 21 minutes of play.
Campbell was joined in double-figures by his brother
Tyree Campbell, who had 14 points and six rebounds.
Jaayden Bush added 11 points, and
Jalen Foy chipped in with 10.
Dasean Stevens paced three Toros in double-figures with 19 points. He also had eight rebounds and a pair of steals.
Josiah Sanders posted 15 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds.
David Cheatom had 10 points.
Cal State East Bay will now advance to the NCAA West Regional Championship game, where it will face the No. 2 seed, Point Loma, on Monday, Mar. 16 at 7 p.m. Cal State Dominguez Hills closes its season at 23-9.
