Cal State Monterey Bay’s Cathy Tong has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week.

Tong shot a 2-under 214 on the Rio Hondo Golf Course to place second in the LA Spring Kickoff and help lead the Otters to a second-place finish. The senior from Hong Kong was consistent over all three rounds with scores of 73 (+1), 70 (-2), and 71 (-1). 

Tong led the tournament with 14 birdies, including six in the final round. She also tied for the tournament lead in both par-3 and par-5 scoring at -2 and -5, respectively. Her performance helped Cal State Monterey Bay finish second in the tournament, 15 strokes ahead of third place, with an 884 (+20). Click here to see the complete results from the tournament.

The Otters will be on a competition hiatus for the next two weeks before playing in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, hosted by Cal State East Bay, on Feb. 23-24.
