Cal State LA women's basketball has built a championship program on the court. Off it, the team is building something just as lasting.

The trophies tell part of the story. The Cal State LA women's basketball team is the defending conference tournament champion, and the Golden Eagles have the banner to prove it. But ask anyone inside the program what defines it, and the answer rarely starts with a scoreboard.

It starts with service.

"Our commitment to community engagement extends beyond the basketball court and reflects our responsibility to serve, educate, and uplift others," head coach Torino Johnson said of the program's mission. Over the past couple of months, that commitment has taken the team from the burned-out neighborhoods of Altadena to the streets of Koreatown, from hospital-adjacent kitchens to elementary school reading circles.
