Stanislaus State’s Kayla Perez was voted FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the shortened week of Oct. 26-29.

The senior defender helped lead Stan State to a 4-1 victory at Fresno Pacific on Thursday, securing the Warriors' seventh straight CCAA Tournament berth. Perez played all 90 minutes on the Stan State back line, helping limit the Sunbirds to just five shots, including three on goal, and only one corner kick.

Offensively, Perez recorded an assist on Olivia Maragos' goal in the 59th minute, which extended the Warriors' lead to 3-1. Her performance helped Stan State finish the regular season on a four-match unbeaten streak (2-0-2) and earn the No. 7 seed to the CCAA Tournament during the final match of the regular season.

This was Perez's first career CCAA weekly award, and it is the fourth for Stanislaus State this fall. Click here to see a complete list of past award winners.

Stanislaus State will face the No. 2 seed, Cal State LA, in the first round of the CCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament on Sunday, Nov. 1 at Noon in Los Angeles.
