ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - The CCAA will use average points per match to determine the 2026 men’s soccer standings.
After weather forced the cancellation of a conference match and created an unbalanced schedule, the CCAA activated its adverse circumstances determination for league standings, which is average points per match for soccer.
Teams earn three points for a conference win and one point for a tie. Instead of ranking teams by total points, the CCAA will divide each team’s points by the number of conference matches played. This calculation accounts for differences in matches played while preserving the value of wins and ties.
Cal State LA leads the standings with 2.60 points per match, followed by Cal State San Bernardino (2.20) and Cal State Monterey Bay (2.10). All three teams have clinched spots in the CCAA Tournament.
Cal State San Marcos sits fourth at 1.80 points per match. Cal Poly Pomona is fifth at 1.67, just ahead of UC Merced at 1.64. The Broncos have earned 15 points in nine conference matches, while the Bobcats have collected 18 points in 11 matches.
The CCAA previously used average points per match to determine soccer standings in 2017 and 2019.
Teams still have between one and two matches left in the regular season. The top seven teams in the final standings, as determined by points per match, will advance to the CCAA Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege. The first-round matches are scheduled for Nov. 1.
