ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Cal State Monterey Bay’s Jerry Godfryd has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct 5-11.

Godfryd was a key player in the Otters’ perfect week in CCAA play, posting back-to-back shutouts in their 2-0 weekend. Godfryd recorded five saves in each match, helping CSUMB earn a 3-0 road victory over UC Merced before returning home to shutout Chico State with another 3-0 win.

The fifth-year goalkeeper from Davis, Calif., played all 90 minutes in both matches, facing 12 shots against the Bobcats and nine against the Wildcats. Godfryd turned away every shot on goal, finishing the week with 10 saves. He also contributed offensively against Chico State, assisting on Aziah Nelson’s first-half goal.

Since making his season debut on Oct. 3, Godfryd has been perfect in goal, recording three consecutive shutouts and 270 scoreless minutes while making 15 saves. The Otters have gone 3-0-0 during that stretch, outscoring their opponents 8-0. Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders.
