Cal Poly Pomona’s Sarah Ybarra claims her third FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week award

For the third time in four weeks, Cal Poly Pomona’s Sarah Ybarra has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. 

Ybarra had an outstanding all-around weekend, leading the Broncos to a pair of straight-set wins. The junior opposite side hitter averaged 5.33 kills per set and 5.00 digs per set to register a double-double in each match. She also had four aces, four blocks, and a .464 hitting percentage to average a conference-leading 6.42 points per set on the weekend. 

On Friday against Cal State Monterey Bay, Ybarra posted 19 kills on only 32 attempts. She had a .500 hitting percentage, 17 digs, two aces, and a block. Then, in the FloCollege/CCAA Game of the Week against San Francisco State on Saturday, Ibarra had 13 kills, 13 digs, three blocks, and two aces as the Broncos outscored the Gators 75-33 in the three sets. 

Ybarra’s 4.38 kills per set this season led the CCAA and are 10th in the nation. Her 5.03 points per set also ranks first in the CCAA and ninth in NCAA Div. II. Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard

Cal Poly Pomona will have a road-home split in its two contests this week. The Broncos will travel to Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday, Oct. 2, before returning home to host Cal State San Marcos on Saturday. Oct. 4. Both matches will be available on FloCollege.
