Cal Poly Pomona’s Vivian Martinez has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week of Sept. 22-28.

At the Lucian Rosa Invite in Kenosha, Wisc., the site of the 2025 NCAA Championships, Martinez took sixth place on the 6k course with a time of 21:35.5.

The meet featured five top-15 programs and many of the best student-athletes in the nation, and Martinez ran stride for stride with the front pack throughout the race. The Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course has long been recognized as one of the most challenging and authentic courses in the country, but Martinez posted an average mile time of 5:47.5 to secure her sixth-place finish.

Martinez finished in front of every runner from the No. 1-ranked team and defending national champions, Adams State.

The Cal Poly Pomona women’s team placed ninth at the meet, behind six top-25 teams and another receiving votes.
