Vanessa Cruz of Cal Poly Pomona has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, for the week of Sept. 15-21.
Cruz scored a goal in each of the team’s wins against RMAC opponents Fort Lewis and MSU Denver last week as the No. 1 ranked Broncos stayed undefeated at 6-0. The reigning national champions took down Fort Lewis 3-1 on Thursday and blanked MSU Denver 3-0 on Sunday.
Cruz, a senior forward from Oceanside, put the match away with a 61st minute goal against Fort Lewis after Ally Henry netted a brace for CPP. In the win over Denver, Cruz’s penalty kick goal in the 55th minute gave the Broncos a comfortable cushion to go up 2-0.
