Medalist Torrie Bowman of Cal State East Bay garners first career FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week honor

Cal State East Bay’s Torrie Bowman has been named the conference’s second FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week, for the week of April 2-8.

Bowman was the individual medalist at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic in Goodyear, Ariz. after shooting a six-under 138 with a pair of 69s. The freshman from Fresno, Calif., led the 117-player field with 11 birdies over 36 holes, claiming her first collegiate win. She finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Sarah Reed of West Texas A&M. This was Bowman’s third top five finish in her rookie season as a collegiate athlete.  

The tournament, held last Friday and Saturday, was won by Biola while the Pioneers finished fifth out of 21 teams with a 582 score.

The Pioneers will be in action next at the CCAA Women’s Golf Championships, April 21-23, at Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara.
