Wildcats’ Naoki Easterday and Otters’ Simon Bjorken share FloCollege/CCAA Golfer of the Week honors

Chico State’s Naoki Easterday and Cal State Monterey Bay’s Simon Björken will share this week’s FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week after tying for first place at the Sonoma State Spring Invitational. 

Easterday and Björken each carded a winning score of 211 (-5) over three rounds on the Sonoma Golf Course. Both golfers came into the final round tied at 140, before closing out with 1-under 71s to stand tied at the end of 54 holes. The two would go to a playoff where Björken prevailed on the second hole by sinking a 19-foot birdie putt to take home the individual title. 

This is the first Golfer of the Week award in 2024-25 for Björken and Easterday. It is the first of Easterday’s career, and the fourth for Björken. Click here to see a complete list of past weekly award winners. 

Cal State Monterey Bay won the tournament by nine strokes over Simon Fraser with an 882 (+18). Chico State finished fifth (899, +35). 

The Wildcats will now prepare for the RJGA Invitational in Goodyear, Ariz., on April 7-8, before meeting up with the Otters at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational on Apr. 14-15 in Turlock, Calif.
