For the fourth time this season and the seventh time in his career, Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Jeremy Dent-Smith has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. (Feb. 11)
The reigning CCAA Player of the Year averaged 21 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 steals to lead the Toros to two critical home victories and help CSUDH remain atop the CCAA standings. He shot .520 percent from the field (13-of-25), .417 from 3-point range (5-of-12) and .846 from the free throw line (11-of-13).
In a showdown Thursday night versus Cal State San Bernardino, Dent-Smith poured in 29 points in an incredibly efficient manner, going 9-of-14 from the field (.642%), 8-of-10 from the foul line (.800%), 3-of-7 from three (.429%), to go along with six rebounds, five assists, three steals, and only one turnover in 32 minutes of action. Dent-Smith made a crucial shot down the stretch to put the Toros up one with 0:08 seconds remaining, eventually securing the win.
In the Toros' 72-49 win over Cal Poly Pomona, Dent-Smith continued to be efficient. He scored 13 points had four assists, two steals, and a rebound.
The two wins helped the Toros clinch the first spot in the 2025 CCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at Cal State San Marcos, March 6-8. CSUDH holds a two-game lead in the CCAA standings at 15-1 (18-4 overall). In the most recent polls, the Toros are ranked No. 23 in the country and No. 2 in the region.

This is the fourth time he has won the CCAA Player of the Week award this season. Dent-Smith has won every third week after his first award this season on Dec. 2. The seven career CCAA Player of the Week awards are the most for any CCAA men’s basketball student-athlete in at least the last 10 seasons.
