Stanislaus State wins its first CCAA Tournament match in a decade

SEASIDE, Calif. - Stanislaus State is advancing to the finals of the 2025 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege after earning its first postseason win in a decade with a 2-0 victory over the No. 6 seed Cal State East Bay.
 
The No. 2-seeded Warriors started the match with energy and controlled the first 20 minutes before Emmanuel Duran capped the first portion of the match with a go-ahead goal off an assist by Adrian Yepez in the 22nd minute.
 
After the goal, Cal State East Bay found an extra step and created multiple opportunities before going into halftime down one (1-0).
 
The second half played out the same as the last part of the first half, with both teams having opportunities but neither finding the net.
 
Stanislaus State would finally break through with an insurance goal in the 87th minute when Alexis Cervantes beat the keeper, who had come forward in the box. Jose Tizoc assisted with the goal.
 
Angel Ruiz-Hernandez and the Stan State defense would complete the shutout to secure the victory. It was the Warriors' 10th shutout.
 
Ruiz-Hernandez finished with six saves, and his counterpart, Adan Corona, made four for the Pioneers.
 
Stanislaus State will advance to the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 11:30 a.m. It will face the winner of No. 1 seed Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 5 seed Cal State San Marcos.
