Match 1: No. 6 Cal State East Bay 2, No. 3 Cal State LA 1 [Box score]
LOS ANGELES - Cal State East Bay is advancing in the CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament after pulling off a first-round upset for the second consecutive year with a 2-1 win over the No. 3 seed Cal State LA.
The Pioneers (7-5-5) came into the tournament as the No. 6 seed and had to play on the road, but from the very start of the match, they controlled the play.
Kiichi Murakami gave Cal State East Bay the lead in the 22nd minute when he collected a loose ball at the top of the box and fired it into an empty net.
The Pioneers would extend their lead to 2-0 with a goal just a minute into the second half. Goalkeeper
Adan Corona started the play, finding
Alejandro Zarate, who dished it to Alejandro Verdugo for the insurance goal.
The Golden Eagles (8-4-6) would not go away, battling until the final minute. They cut the Pioneers' lead in half with a header goal by
Jose Lopez in the 85th minute. They would get a few more opportunities in the last four minutes, but the Pioneers' defense held up to secure the win.
Corona finished with six saves for CSUEB, and
Brayden McClelland had four for CSLA.
Cal State East Bay will advance to the semifinals of the 2025 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege. It will face the No. 2 seed, Stanislaus State, on Friday, Nov. 14, at 10:30 a.m.
Match 2: No. 5 Cal State San Marcos 2, No. 4 Cal State San Bernardino 2 (CSUSM advances on penalty kicks, 4-3)

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - No. 5 seed Cal State San Marcos overcame a late two-goal deficit before prevailing in penalty kicks, 4-3, to advance to the semifinals of the 2025 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament, presented by FloCollege.
The Coyotes (9-3-7) built a 2-0 lead behind a goal from
Julian Vazquez in the seventh minute, and another by
Anthony Morales in the 65th minute.
That second goal seemed to wake the Cougars (6-7-5) up as their offense came alive.
Efren Nunez Dominguez answered with a penalty kick goal in the 69th minute to cut CSUSM's deficit in half. Nunez Dominguez later assisted on the equalizer to Brando Oros in the 81st minute.
Neither team would score the rest of regulation or in either overtime period as the match turned to penalty kicks to determine who would advance.
Both teams made their first two attempts. The third attempt for CSUSB hit the crossbar, and CSUSM took the lead when
David Ruiz scored. The Coyotes would get another make from
Anthony Luna before CSUSM experienced its first miss as the shootout was tied 3-3 heading to the fifth round.
CSUSB's attempt sailed high before
Jacob Arellano sealed the victory for the road team with a shot to the right side of the goal.
This was only the second time in program history that Cal State San Marcos has made the CCAA Tournament, and both times they have advanced as the lower seed after winning in penalty kicks.
Cal State San Marcos will advance to the semifinals of the 2025 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege. It will face the No. 1 seed, Cal State Dominguez Hills, on Friday, Nov. 14, at 1:30 p.m.
