Cal Poly Pomona’s Ricardo Vargas has claimed the Flo/College CCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week, for Sept. 29-Oct. 5.
Vargas helped the No. 15 ranked Broncos to a dominating outing at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational on Saturday. Vargas came in second with a time of 24:36.1, leading a pack of Broncos to the team victory. The 8,000-meter race was held on campus and finished at Strehl Track.
The junior from Lake Arrowhead, Calif., finished a step behind The Master’s freshman Brogan Collins (24:35.6). The Master’s is the No. 1 ranked team in the NAIA. The meet also featured a number of CCAA and PacWest teams as well as DIII programs from Southern California.
Cal Poly Pomona easily took first in the team standings with its top five finishers all in the top eight.
