Back-to-Back Shutouts Earn Palomares FloCollege/CCAA Defensive Player of the Week

Cal State San Bernardino (8-2-5, 3-1-3) goalkeeper Donovan Palomares has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after anchoring the Coyotes’ defense to a scoreless draw and a clean sheet victory. Click here to see a complete list of past award winners.

Palomares recorded back-to-back shutouts and led the Coyotes’ defense across two matches at Premier Field. 

In Friday’s matchup, Palomares finished with three saves in the 0-0 draw against Cal State East Bay, turning aside all second-half attempts to secure his first of two clean sheets on the week.

Palomares followed with another standout performance on Sunday’s Senior Day, blanking Cal State San Marcos in a 3-0 victory. Palomares finished with three saves, including two in the closing minutes, to secure his second straight shutout in the 3-0 victory over Cal State San Marcos.

Palomares continues to rank among the top goalkeepers in the CCAA, sitting fifth in goals-against average (1.10), fourth in shutouts per game (0.20), and sixth in save percentage (0.725). The Coyotes will hit the road for their final regular-season stretch, traveling to face Cal State LA on Friday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. at University Stadium before visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m. in Carson.
