Stanislaus State senior defender and vice captain Ian Reis has been named this week’s FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week following a standout performance that helped the No. 1 Warriors post back-to-back shutouts.
Reis anchored a back line that allowed just seven total shots (three on goal) in a 3-0 win over Cal Poly Humboldt (3-9-1, 0-5-0 CCAA) and only 11 shots (six on goal) in a 1-0 victory over Cal State San Marcos (4-5-3, 3-2-0 CCAA). His leadership and organization were instrumental in keeping both opponents scoreless for 180 minutes, extending the Warriors’ shutout streak to seven.
Behind Reis, Stanislaus State improved to 11-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in CCAA play, remaining unbeaten and solidifying its national top-five ranking.
This marks Reis’s first career CCAA Athlete of the Week honor and the fourth consecutive week a Stanislaus State player has received a weekly award. Click here to see a complete list of past award winners.
