Hat-trick nets CSUSB’s Bella Cervantes FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award

Bella Cervantes of Cal State San Bernardino has earned the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, for the week of Oct. 13-19.

Cervantes scored the CCAA’s first hat-trick this season during the Coyotes’ 3-2 win at Cal Poly Humboldt on Sunday. She scored three unanswered goals and CSUSB needed every one of them, including the eventual game-winner.

The senior forward from Anaheim, Calif., got her team on the board with a penalty kick goal in the 11th minute to tie the game. Cervantes then gave CSUSB the lead in the 54th minute before an unassisted goal in the 61st minute to complete the hat-trick.

The win lifted CSUSB to a tie for fourth place in the CCAA standings while handing Cal Poly Humboldt its first loss during conference play.

Cervantes, now with five goals, ranks third in the CCAA in goals scored. She is also second with three game-winning goals and is tied for third with 11 points. Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders
