San Francisco State’s Melanie Hewlett has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Volleyball Setter of the Week for the week of Oct. 6-12.

Hewlett averaged 10.56 assists and 1.78 digs per set to help San Francisco State improve to 5-3 in conference play. The freshman setter totaled 95 assists, including a 53-assist performance against Cal State Dominguez Hills, to go along with 16 digs and four aces. 

The Murrieta, Calif., native opened the week by leading the Gators to a four-set win over Stanislaus State (7-8, 5-3 CCAA). Hewlett put up 42 assists, six digs, and three aces. She would record her first double-double in CCAA play, and third of the season, when she posted 53 assists and 10 digs in a five-set loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills. The 53 assists are the third-most by a CCAA student-athlete this season.

This is Hewlett’s first career CCAA Setter of the Week award. She is the sixth different student-athlete in six weeks to secure setter of the week honors. Click here to see a complete list of past award winners.
