Mario Giannini from Chico State has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. (Oct. 13)

In one of the most loaded fields of the year, at the Lewis Crossover in Romeoville, Ill, Giannini placed third with a time of 23:51.6. He helped Chico State place fourth in a field with seven teams ranked in the top 17. 

The Wildcats posted 190 points with the junior, who hails from Chico, Calif., leading the way. No. 8-ranked Chico State finished ahead of No. 13 Pittsburg State, No. 16 Lewis, No. 17 Fort Lewis, No. 18 Northwest Nazarene, No. 21 Florida Southern, No. 23 Walsh, and more. The top 5 runners for Chico State all placed in the top 63, but Giannini was the only one in the top 35.
