Asia Jordan wins FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week after powering CSUDH to a pair of road wins

Asia Jordan from Cal State Dominguez Hills has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the first week of the new year. 

Jordan averaged 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds on .636 percent shooting to help the Toros extend their winning streak to 14 games with a pair of road victories. Cal State Dominguez Hills is now 14-0 (6-0 CCAA) and sits at No. 5 in the nation (WBCA) after opening undefeated in the first half of the year for the second time in three seasons. 

The senior forward played a big role in the critical top-25 matchup against No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona. Jordan played a season-high 36 minutes (only the second time she played over 30 minutes this season), scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds. She went 6-of-11 from the field and 6-of-8 at the free throw line. She added two assists and two steals. 

Jordan followed that game up with a 19-point, eight-rebound performance at Cal State San Bernardino. She went 8-of-11 from the field, adding two assists, a block and a steal. 

The Lakewood, Calif., native is second in the CCAA in field goal percentage (.560) and leads the conference in total made field goals (89). She is also seventh in points per game (14.6) and 11th in rebounds per game (6.5). Click here to see CCAA Statistics Leaders.

This is Jordan’s third career CCAA Player of the Week award, but her first since the 2021-22 season. She is the second Toro to collect the honor this season, joining Nala Williams. Click here to see a complete list of past CCAA Players of the Week.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will face a challenge in the schedule this week as it plays at Cal State San Marcos on Thursday, Jan. 9 before flying to play Sonoma State on Saturday, Jan. 11.
