Chico State’s Jojo Murphy collects his second FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week award Jan 7, 2025 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Chico State’s Jojo Murphy has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5. Murphy averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists to lead Chico State to a pair of road wins coming out of the holiday break. The junior guard shot .516 percent from the field (16-of-31) and .421 percent from 3-point range. The wins extended Chico State’s record to a perfect 6-0 in conference play. Against Cal State Monterey Bay, Murphy had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists. In the next game at Stanislaus State, Murphy scored 24 points and grabbed a season-high eight rebounds. He added five assists, two steals and five 3-pointers. Those performances extended his CCAA-leading scoring average to 20.4 points per game. He is up nearly two points on second place. Murphy is also second in the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.96) and fifth in assists per game (4.1). The Wildcats will have a tough home slate next week when they host No. 17 Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Jan. 11.
