Pair of double-doubles propel Chico State’s Meadow Aragon to the FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week award

Meadow Aragon of Chico State has been selected as the FloCollege/CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 20-26.

Aragon averaged 20.0 points and 10.5 rebounds while recording a pair of double-doubles for Chico State. Aragon helped the Wildcats hang with No. 3 nationally ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills on Thursday before they earned a win over Cal State LA on Saturday. She shot 16-of-26 from the field (.615 percent) and added three assists and four blocks. 

Despite the loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills, Aragon made every effort to keep the Wildcats in the game, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Two days later, she went on a tear in the paint, scoring 25 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for her fifth straight double-double. In the last five games, she’s putting up 19.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game despite constantly facing double and triple teams. 

Aragon is now averaging 15.3 points, which ranks fourth best in the CCAA. The senior from Nevada City, Calif., is also sixth in NCAA Div. II and leads the West Region with a .611 field goal percentage. Her 5.7 rebounds per game have her sixth in the CCAA and she is tied for second with six double-doubles. Chico State will play two challenging games on the road this week. The Wildcats will open against Cal State San Bernardino (6-6) on Thursday before facing Cal Poly Pomona (11-1) on Saturday.
