Stan State’s Gabby Rawson collects sixth career CCAA Defensive Player of the Week award

For the sixth time in her career, Stanislaus State’s Gabby Rawson has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 16-22).

Rawson averaged 4.4 digs and 2.4 assists per set to help the Warriors open CCAA play with two road wins. She started with 19 digs to go with her seven assists and two service aces in the Warriors' four-set win at CSUMB.  Rawson finished with her first double-double of the season and second of her career with 12 assists and 16 digs. She recorded three service aces in the Warriors' four-set win at CSUEB.

Her efforts helped Stanislaus State open its season with its best record in the NCAA DII era. The Warriors are now 9-1, and 2-0 in the CCAA for the first time since 2016. 

With her efforts this weekend, the senior from Rancho Cucamonga (Etiwanda HS) moved to fifth in CCAA with 3.68 digs per set. Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard.

Rawson won CCAA Defensive Player of the Week in three of the first four weeks of the 2023 season. She also collected two in 2022. Click here to see a complete list of past award winners.
