Cal Poly Humboldt’s Awelina Fakalata honored as the CCAA Offensive Player of the Week Sep 24, 2024 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Awelina Fakalata of Cal Poly Humboldt has been voted the CCAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 16-22. The senior outside hitter posted 38 kills, 30 digs, four blocks, and five aces on the opening weekend of conference play. Fakalata closed the weekend with an 18-kill, 15-dig performance to help lead the Lumberjacks to a win over defending national champions and currently ranked No. 14 Cal State LA. She finished the week averaging 4.22 kills, 5.06 points, and 3.33 digs per set. Fakalata began CCAA play with 20 kills and 15 digs in a loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills. It was her fourth 20-kill performance of the season. She followed up with another double-double against Cal State LA, which included the Sacramento native scoring the Lumberjacks’ final two points of the fifth set. Her weekend performance moved Fakalata to fourth in the conference in kills per set (4.03) and second in total kills (153). She is also ranked in the top 10 in aces (t-fifth, 16) and points per set (sixth, 4.59). Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard. This is Fakalata’s first career CCAA Offensive Player of the Week Award. She earned CCAA Defensive Player of the Week last year for her performance on Oct. 30-Nov. 5.
