Cal Poly Humboldt’s Artana Nice, who won the Jim Hunt Humboldt Invitational, has been selected CCAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week, for the week of Sept. 16-22.
In her collegiate debut, Nice posted a winning time of 22:29.3 at the Beau Pre Golf Course. The freshman from Eugene, Ore., clocked an average mile time of 6:01.9 to finish ahead of three Southern Oregon runners. Nice’s time is just four seconds shy of the current course record held by Rosa Granados (22:25.0 in 2022).
Nice led the Lumberjacks to a team win in a three-team meet over Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech. Three other Humboldt student-athletes also finished in the top 10.
Cal Poly Humboldt will return to action on Oct. 5 at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore.
