Izzy Issak does it all for SF State en route to winning CCAA Defensive Player of the Week

San Francisco State’s Izzy Issak has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 9-15.

Issak helped lead the Gators to a 4-0 week at the Route 92 Invitational hosted by SF State and Cal State East Bay. The senior outside hitter averaged 4.08 digs and 0.33 blocks per set to go along with her 4.92 kills/set. She registered a double-double within three sets as SF State earned the sweep in all four matches. 

The Los Gatos, Calif., native closed out the tournament with a 16-kills, 17-dig performance as the Gators defeated Lubbock Christian from the Lone Star Conference in three sets. SF State earned wins over teams from the RMAC, Lone Star and two over PacWest opponents to improve to 5-2. 

Issak now ranks fourth in the CCAA in digs (3.73) and kills (4.27) per set. She is also 10th in hitting percentage (.277). Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard.

SF State will open conference play this week at Cal State San Marcos (Friday) and Cal Poly Pomona (Saturday).
