Chico State’s Preston Moll has been named CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Wildcats to a pair of wins.

Moll, as a defender, scored two goals and assisted on another as the Wildcats blanked Simon Fraser, 2-0, on Thursday and took down Saint Martin’s, 5-1, on Saturday. Chico State has now won three straight against GNAC opponents to improve to 3-1.

Against the GNAC preseason favorites Simon Fraser, Moll scored on a free kick on a shot that bent around a five-person wall to double the Wildcats’ lead. He then led the Wildcats' defense to blanking the Red Leafs, the 2023 GNAC champions. Versus the Saints, Moll sent in the equalizer on another free kick goal that sparked a five-goal rally in the second half to lead Chico State. He also assisted on a score.

This is Moll’s second career CCAA player of the week award. He was named the defensive player of the week last Sept. 26.

The Wildcats visit Dominican in San Rafael on Thursday before hosting Menlo on Saturday.
