Morgan Sjoerdsma and Cal State LA hit the links early in the season as Sjoerdsma picks up the season’s first CCAA Women’s Golfer of the Week honor.

Sjoerdsma was the top CCAA player at the Swan Memorial in Broomfield, Colo., last week. The graduate student from Corona finished tied for third with a 72-73-145 scorecard at the tournament held at Broadlands Golf Course. She was just four shots off the lead and recorded her best finish since winning the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout in February.

Cal State LA finished second behind Colorado State-Pueblo with a 591 two-round total (295-296).

This is Sjoerdsma’s third career CCAA Golfer of the Week award. She was the CCAA individual champion in 2022.

The Golden Eagles are back at it again this week with their second tournament of the season, this time at the RJGA Womens’ Shootout at Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
