Cal State San Marcos’ Ryan Meinardus has been selected as CCAA Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week to start the 2024 season.

Meinardus scored two goals with an assist in the Cougars’ opening week as CSUSM went 1-0-1 at home against two Colorado schools. The senior midfielder assisted on the team’s lone goal in the 1-1 draw versus UC-Colorado Springs on Thursday. The Placentia standout scored both goals on Saturday to lift the Cougars over Colorado School of Mines, 2-1.

Against Mines, Meinardus scored his first goal on a sliding shot off a lob pass before scoring his second on a free-kick. He was one of four CCAA athletes to score two goals in the season’s first two matches. Meinardus is the conference co-leader with five points.

Cal State San Marcos continues its homestand at The Cage with a match against PacWest team Concordia on Wednesday.
