Final 2023-24 Learfield Directors' Cup Standings]
Cal State LA finished with 444.5 points to lead the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) in the 2023-24 Division II Learfield Directors' Cup final standings.
The Golden Eagles finished 27th overall and were one of five CCAA teams to place in the top 100.
Cal State LA had a great fall, highlighted by the volleyball team winning the national championship. However, the Golden Eagles' balance throughout all three seasons earned them the CCAA's highest finish. They were the only institution to score over 100 points in the fall, winter, and spring.
Cal State LA collected 100 points in volleyball as the Golden Eagles claimed the 2023 NCAA Championship. Its men’s soccer team earned 73 points, placing fifth nationally. The women’s soccer team added 50 points to the total with an appearance in the first round of the NCAA regional. An 11th-place finish in the NCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship netted CSLA 66 more points. Appearances by the men's and women's basketball teams in the NCAA West Regionals brought the winter total to 116 points.
The Golden Eagles closed the year with the women's golf team attending regionals. The men's and women's track & field teams sent multiple competitors to the NCAA Championships. The women led the way with a 29th-place finish, securing 43.5 more points.
The 27th-place finish is the best for a CCAA team since UC San Diego in 2018-19 (second).
Chico State was the next CCAA team at No. 56, followed closely by Cal Poly Pomona in 58th. Cal State San Marcos came in at No. 68, and Cal State Monterey Bay was 96th in the CCAA teams in the top 100.
Chico State placed teams in the NCAA playoffs in men's cross country, women's cross country, men's basketball, and women's basketball during fall and winter. They added points in the spring with men's golf and women's track & field.
Cal Poly Pomona added a quality spring to a strong fall performance. Men’s soccer, men’s cross country, and volleyball all reached the NCAA postseason in the fall. The Broncos collected 130 points in the spring, led by the men's track & field team's 17th-place finish.
Cal State San Marcos finished 68th with 276 points. After scoring only 25 points in the fall, the Cougars came on strong with 83 points in the winter and 168 in the spring. The women's golf team was the top earner in the spring with 65 points (12th place). The women's basketball team led the Cougars overall with 83 points.
Cal State Monterey Bay had a strong spring, collecting 162.5 of its 212.5 points. The baseball team made the super regional and finished tied for ninth nationally, collecting 64 points. The men's golf team placed 14th (61.5 points), and women's golf made the NCAA regional.
Grand Valley State from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) won the 2023-24 Learfield Directors' Cup with 983 points. The University of Indianapolis (901.25 points) placed second, and West Texas A&M (900.25 ) finished third.
