Chico State’s Tyler Ashman and Cal State Monterey Bay’s Simon Bjorken are this week’s CCAA Men’s Golfers of the Week after sharing the top spot at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational.

Both Ashman and Bjorken finished at an impressive 11-under 205. They ended the tournament just two strokes ahead of fellow CCAA golfers who tied for third on the leaderboard. After a playoff hole, Ashman earned the individual medalist honors.

Ashman, a senior from Clovis, Calif., started the tournament with a 70 in the first round and 71 in the second round. His third round score of 64 tied the tournament low and secured his spot at the top of the leaderboard, forcing the tie and teeing up the win. He had a total of 20 birdies and 26 pars.

Bjorken, a sophomore from Hudiksval, Sweden, opened the tournament with a 65 in the first round, capturing an early lead. He scored a 71 in the second round and a 69 in the third round. He had a total of 17 birdies and 26 pars. Bjorken also had a hole-in-one on the 11th hole in the second round, a 189-yard par three.

Cal State Monterey Bay finished in first at 18-under 846, followed by Chico State who finished at 16-under 848.

This is both Ashman and Bjorken’s third career CCAA Golfer of the Week awards.

Cal State Monterey Bay heads to Arizona for the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout, hosted by Colorado Christian University next week (April 5-6). Chico State makes its next appearance at the 2023-24 CCAA Golf Championships (April 22-24).
