CSUSB Wins All-CCAA West Region Semifinal

In the end, Cal State San Bernardino had just enough to outlast fellow CCAA foe Chico State. 75-73, to advance to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball final on Monday night against either Azusa Pacific or Central Washington.

The Coyotes scored the first points of the game on a three-pointer by Robby Robinson just 15 seconds into the game and held the lead for most of the first half. Chico State fought back, tying the game on a pair of free throws by Joshua Hamilton with 1:28 remaining in the first period. After trading baskets, CSUSB retook the lead on a pair of free throws by Evan Guillory to take a 32-30 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Wildcats struck first and built a four-point lead with 17:25 left to play. CSUSB eventually fought back, retaking the lead midway through the period. The second-seeded Coyotes pushed the lead to seven points with just under two minutes to play and it proved enough to withstand a late Chico State run as CSUSB earned the 75-73 win. 

Cal State San Bernardino was led by 26 points and 12 rebounds from Christopher Mitchell. Robinson added 23 points while Guillory finished with 15 points. LeAndrew Knight brought down 11 rebounds in the win. 

Chico State was led by 28 points from Hamilton. Evan Oliver added 12 points while Jojo Murphy and Kelvin Wright Jr. each chipped in 11.
