Medalist Patrick Jaksch of Cal State San Marcos also earned the CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week award, for the week of Feb. 29-March 5.
Jaksch won the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawk Invitational at Callippe Preserve Golf Course in Pleasanton with a 7-under 137. He was the only player to shoot two under 70 rounds and won the event by five strokes after Cal State East Bay pair Adam Brangefalt and Cooper Groshart, both shot 2-under.
The junior from Vista scored a tournament best 10 birdies over 36 holes. He also had 24 pars. In the second round Jaksch went up to the No. 18 tee with a six-under before a double-bogey on the final hole.
This was Jaksch’s first career collegiate tournament victory. His previous best placement finish as a Cougar was 22nd at the Chico State Wildcat Classic (Oct. 10-11, 2023).
The Cougars will stay busy, competing in a tournament for the third consecutive week by traveling to Alameda for the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout on March 11-12.
