Cal State LA’s Eche Okeke named CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Feb 27, 2024 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Cal State LA's Eche Okeke has been recognized as the CCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 19-25. Okeke led the Golden Eagles to two victories on the road against Chico State and Cal Poly Humboldt. He averaged 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.0 steals, while shooting over 70 percent from the field (19-of-27) and 76 percent from the free throw line (13-of-17). In the first game against Cal Poly Humboldt, Okeke scored a season-high 26 points in a one-point win (81-80). He made 11-of-15 field goals, grabbed five rebounds, and made five steals. In the second game, against teams tied for third place in the CCAA standings, Okeke scored 25 points, had eight rebounds, and three assists, leading the Golden Eagles to an 82-77 win. Okeke is a graduate student from Hayward, California, and is currently ranked second in the CCAA for steals per game, with a total of 1.78. Cal State LA has already secured its place in the 2024 CCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, which will be held from March 7-9 in San Bernardino. The Golden Eagles will play their last regular season game on Thursday, February 29 against Cal State Dominguez Hills, in a match-up between the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in the CCAA standings.
