Stan State’s Chris Chomyn and Greg Mouser of CSUSM shares first Men’s Golfer of the Week award of spring season

Stanislaus State’s Chris Chomyn and Greg Mouser of Cal State San Marcos will share the first CCAA Men’s Golfer of the Week honors to start the 2024 spring season.

Chomyn and Mouser tied for first after three rounds of play at the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational at Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista. Both finished with impressive 7-under 209 scores. Chomyn was the individual medalist after winning the first playoff hole with a birdie, besting Mouser’s par tally.

Chomyn, a senior from Irvine, was atop of the leaderboard throughout the event after shooting a tournament low 64 in round one on Monday. He held on to the lead with a 71 in Monday’s afternoon round at 9-under. He ended up with an eagle and 15 birdies to go with 28 pars.

Mouser, a junior from Fresno, tallied a 68 in Tuesday’s final round to shoot up from sixth to force a playoff with Chomyn. He had scored 70-71 after Monday’s two rounds. Statistically, Mouser scored an eagle with 11 birdies and 36 pars. He was the only player to shoot under par scores in all three rounds.

Stan State finished sixth at +9, 873 and host Cal State San Marcos was fifth at 4-over 868.

This is Mouser’s third CCAA Golfer of the Week award and Chomyn’s first.
