Cal State San Marcos’ Edwyn Collins collects second CCAA Player of the Week award Feb 13, 2024 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Edwyn Collins of Cal State San Marcos has been named the CCAA Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 5-11. The senior guard averaged 30 points and 9.5 rebounds to help keep Cal State San Marcos’ CCAA Tournament hopes alive (8-9 CCAA). He shot .488 percent from the field (21-of-43) and 16-of-19 from the free throw line, including a game where he went 10-for-10 and the Cougars won by five. Collins added six assists and two steals. In Thursday's game against Cal State Monterey Bay, Collins scored 28 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had two steals. He completed the double-double the next game against Stanislaus State when he put up 32 points and 10 rebounds. It was his second double-double of the season and the first since Nov. 11. The Moreno Valley native now leads the CCAA in scoring with 17.0 points per game and steals per game (2.04). He is fourth in assists (3.0) and ninth in rebounds (6.3). The Cougars are tied with Sonoma State and San Francisco State at 8-9. This week, they will go on the road to face two of the top 3 teams in the standings: Cal State LA and Cal State Dominguez Hills. They will open with the Toros on Thursday before facing the Golden Eagles on Saturday.
