Quick hands: Nala Williams’ 13 steals leads the Toro to FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors Dec 24, 2024 Share: Complete list of weekly winners >>> Nala Williams from Cal State Dominguez Hills has been voted the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 16-22. The junior guard shot 50 percent from the field and averaged 21.0 points per game to lead Cal State Dominguez Hills to a pair of wins over two regionally ranked opponents. Williams went 16-for-32, including 7-of-12 from 3-point range. She added 12 assists, 13 rebounds and a very impressive 13 steals. In a non-conference game against Central Washington (8-2), Williams scored 24 points, with seven rebounds, six assists and five steals. She went 9-of-19 from the field and 3-of-7 from long range in an 85-73 win. Then on Saturday in a CCAA game, Williams hit 4-of-5 3-pointers and had a CCAA league-best eight steals. She finished with 18 points, six rebounds, six assists and eight steals. Williams is now second in NCAA Div. II with 4.85 steals per game. She is only .07 behind the national leader. Williams is also fifth in the CCAA in scoring (16.0 points per game), second in assists (4.0) and first in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.0). Click here to see CCAA Statistics Leaders. The Toros will be on a competition hiatus until after the New Year. When it returns, Cal State Dominguez Hills will go on the road to face Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday, Jan. 2 and Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Jan. 4.
