CSUMB’s Jack Blickenstaff named FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for second time in three weeks

For the second time in three weeks, Cal State Monterey Bay’s Jack Blickenstaff has been picked as the FloCollege/CCAA Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Against two of the top teams in the conference, Blickenstaff recorded his fourth shoutout in his sixth match on the season on Friday and led the Otters to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. He had a clean sheet against Cal State Dominguez Hills, the league’s top scoring team, in the scoreless tie on Friday. Then against No. 3 Cal State LA, Blickenstaff gave up a second half goal but kept it close to help CSUMB play to a tie.

Since his return, the senior goalkeeper from Fresno, Calif., has led Cal State Monterey Bay to a 3-0-3 record as the Otters earned a berth into the CCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.

Blickenstaff leads the CCAA with a .333 Goals-against-Average in conference matches. His .909 saves percentage and four shutouts are also league bests during CCAA contests. Click here to see the complete CCAA stats leaders

Cal State Monterey Bay improved to 7-3-6, 4-2-4 CCAA and sits in fifth place in the standings heading into the regular season finale against San Francisco State on Thursday.
