Stanislaus State sweeps Cal State East Bay to advance to the semifinals

POMONA, Calif. – No. 3 seed Stanislaus State defeated No. 6 seed Cal State East Bay in three sets, 25-21, 25-21, and 25-18, to earn the program's second win all-time in the CCAA Volleyball Tournament.
 
Ellison Weaver had a match-high 12 kills to lead five Warriors with six or more kills. Isabella Saucedo added 10 kills and seven digs. Gabby Rawson dug 26 balls to match the CCAA season-best in a three-set match. She and Weaver each added three service aces as the Warriors posted eight service aces to the Pioneers zero. Stanislaus State also had an edge in hitting percentage (.173-.097) and assists (43-27).
 
Lexi Pagani paced the Pioneers with nine kills and 15 digs. Coco Ikpe registered eight kills, and Alexandria Gloria chipped in seven. Gloria also chipped in with14 digs as four Pioneers recorded double-digit digs.
 
Stanislaus State came into the match knowing it needed a win to keep its NCAA postseason hopes alive, and it played determined from the opening serve. Stan State posted its best hitting percentage (.297), along with 16 kills in the opening set. It was also statistically their worst defensive set. The Warriors got better in the following two sets, holding the Pioneers below .100 in each (.096 and 0.56). In the clinching set, Stan State allowed only six kills to close the match with a 25-18 win.
 
This was only Stanislaus State's second win in the history of the CCAA Tournament. Their last win came in 2016. It is the program's sixth appearance and second in three years under coach Lauren Flowers.
 
The Warriors will advance to the CCAA Volleyball Tournament semifinals, where they will face the No. 2 seed, San Francisco State, on Friday at 3 p.m.
