Cal State LA’s Lily Buggs has been selected as the season’s first winner of the FloCollege/CCAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.
Buggs averaged 15 points and seven rebounds a game to lead the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 record at the season-opening CCAA/GNAC Classic in Carson, Calif.. She posted 21 points with nine rebounds to lead LA over WWU in an overtime thriller after helping her team to a win over Seattle Pacific the night before.
In the Golden Eagles’ commanding 76-56 win over SPU Friday, Buggs had a well-rounded game with nine points, five rebounds, two steals and three blocks to begin the season. In the OT win over GNAC’s preseason favorites Vikings of WWU, the senior guard from Long Beach netted 21 points on 8 of 16 shooting.
This is Buggs’ fourth career player of the week award, her first since the final week of the 2022-23 season.
