Emily Elliott breaks Cal State LA record en route to winning CCAA Offensive Player of the Week

Emily Elliott of No. 18 Cal State LA has been selected as the CCAA Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 6. 

Elliott averaged 6.1 kills and 6.9 points per set with a .305 hitting percentage to lead Cal State LA to a pair of five-set road wins. Her 61 kills on the weekend moved her past Jamie Griffith’s 1,646 (1996-2000) to become the Golden Eagles’ all-time leader. Elliott is now only 160 kills from breaking the CCAA’s career record held by Cal State San Bernardino’s Kim Ford (2000-03). 

In the opening game against Cal State Monterey Bay, Elliott registered 29 kills, eight digs, and four aces to help the Golden Eagles improve to 8-4. She backed it up with a 32-kill, 17-dig double-double against Cal State East Bay. Elliott completed the weekend with 61 kills, 25 digs, six aces, five assists, and three blocks. 

Elliott’s outstanding weekend allowed her to take over as the national leader in points per set (6.23). She is also within 0.09 kills per set of the national leader in kills with 5.38 per set. Click here to see the complete CCAA leaderboard.
